The town of Frisco's Recreation Department is offering a "No School" Winter Vacation Sensation (WVS) day camp for children ages 5 to 12 on Friday, Oct. 17; Monday, Oct. 20; and Tuesday, Oct. 21.

The Summit School District October school break is new this year, and Frisco recreation staff has added this camp to provide an opportunity for kids to have inspiring and fun-filled adventures on their days off while giving parents the peace of mind that their children are in a safe and fun environment.

WVS is a state-licensed day camp program offering experienced camp counselors, low child-to-counselor ratios and access to the great recreational amenities. Each day of camp will focus on themed activities, which offer educational opportunities and activities. WVS will have two 15-passenger vans, which will enable counselors to take campers to various destinations in and around Summit County for a more robust day-camp experience.

"The October break is new this year, and we really saw a need to add a day camp during that time," said Linsey Kach, town of Frisco recreation events manager. "It also gave us some really great field-trip opportunities, including an outing to a pumpkin patch on the Front Range and a gold miners' hike in Breckenridge. We focus on activities which will be inspiring but which are also a break from traditional academics. After all, kids need a little downtime too."

WVS "No School" day camps will also be offered Dec. 22, 23, 26, 29, 30 and 31; Jan. 2 and 5; Feb. 23-27; and April 6-10. Registration is currently open for those dates, as well, and spaces are still available.

WVS is a state-licensed program, which requires some mandatory paperwork be submitted prior to a child attending the program. Paperwork includes a registration form, waiver packet and a copy of a child's immunization records. Paperwork can be filled out at http://www.friscorecreation.com. Contact Kach at linseyk@townoffrisco.com to ensure that all paperwork is complete.
