Oil Painting for Beginners

1 p.m., Fuqua Livery Stable, 110 E Washington Ave. Learn to paint in oils, or brush up on your painting skills. This workshop will cover the basics of oil painting including color mixing, brushwork, values and composition. $45, materials list provided, or $12 material fee.

Summit Reads New Book

Frisco, March 10

10 a.m., Main Branch – Summit County Library, 0037 County Road 1005. Summit Reads Community Project returns for a fifth year with events and discussions focused on the book, ‘The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains,’ by Nicholas Carr. You do not have to finish reading the book to attend. All are invited. (970) 668-5555.

U.S. Masters Swimming Drop In

6:45 a.m., Breckenridge Recreation Center, 880 Airport Road. Whether you are a fitness swimmer, a former competitive swimmer, or a triathlete in training, the U.S. Masters Swimming community will help you work toward your individual goals. Under the guidance of USMS Coach Jaime Brede, you will develop effective habits in a fun environment. Pass holder and member drop-in fees are $5 per class. Non-members fees are $6, or free with daily admission to the Recreation Center. Please call the Aquatics Coordinator with any questions at (970) 547-4338.

50+ ski with us

Breckenridge, March 10

All Day, Breckenridge Ski Resort Peak 8 Guest Services, 1599 Ski Hill Road. 50+ Ski with us is a complimentary guided ski and snowboard program for all Breck guests ages 50 and over. Explore Breck’s vast and varied terrain, while enjoying a social day with fellow local and visiting seniors. Registration is 8:30-9 a.m. in the T-Bar. Ability levels blue and above.
