Lola Rising will play The Barkley Ballroom on Thursday, June 4. Lola Rising is a Colorado-based indie folk island rock band, composed of Denver locals Paul Medina Guevara (lead vocals, guitar, ukulele), Woody Roberts (bass guitar, piano, vocals) and Kevin Eady (guitar, vocals, ukulele). Their danceable rhythms, honest poetry and smooth, melodic multipart harmonies make their music familiar, fun, accessible, vivid and thought provoking. Camino Shell Decoration Workshop

4 p.m., Yellow Arrow Coffee, 103 S. Harris St. Planning to walk the camino, know someone who is, or just want to participate in a fun arts and crafts activity? The scallop shell is the famous symbol of the camino, and local artist Mauricio Meneses will lead the group in painting the shells. Drop in anytime between 4 and 5:30 p.m. Kids will love it. $10, includes materials.

I Am Able

7-9 p.m., The Eileen And Paul Finkel Auditorium CMC, 107 Denison Placer Road. Meet the co-founder of I Am Able, Frederick Ndabaramiye. As a young boy, he witnessed and lived through one of the worst genocides in history in Rwanda. He is inviting the public to hear his inspiring story of forgiveness, determination, courage and love. The evening will begin with a talk about Ndabaramiye's life and the short film I am Able, that recently screened at the Telluride Mountainfilm festival), a Q & A and a meet and greet. He will also have his book for sale along with some of his paintings.
