Trail Reroute and Rehab Overnight Project
Breckenridge, Aug. 22
All Day, McCullough Gulch. Friday night arrival encouraged. Just over eight miles outside of Breckenridge. This beautiful trail gives you the feeling of being lost in the woods as it winds up past a series of waterfalls before reaching a beautiful glacier-carved lake. It currently includes a central loop which, through increased use, now serves as a central point for a myriad of social trails that crisscross it and branch out beyond. Volunteers will permanently close half of the central loop and restore the surrounding social trails.
Breckenridge, Aug. 22
9 a.m., High Line Railroad Park, 189 Boreas Pass Road. Join the BHA and other organizations to learn about narrow-gauge railroads and the train that ran from Como to Breckenridge in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In Breckenridge, see Engine No.9 on original track. There will be an interpretive guide at Baker’s Tank on Boreas Pass Road from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Also from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. kids enjoy free mini train rides and complimentary portraits by Cecelia.
Mac and Cheese Fest
Copper Mountain, Aug. 22
All Day, Copper Mountain Resort, 209 Ten Mile Circle. Restaurants compete for the title of Best Mac and Cheese in Summit County and $1,000 cash prize. Festivities include: Sampling, eating contest, live music and beverages (for adults and kids).
Mountain Town Music Festival
Keystone, Aug. 22
1:30 p.m., River Run Village. National acts grace the stage and local food vendors will line the streets concocting their best peach recipes as well as other harvest favorites such as; Rocky Ford melons, Olathe sweet corn and elk.
Dillon, Aug. 22
9 p.m., Snake River Saloon, 23074 Highway 6. The Rock Nouveau Band with the fantastic ryhthms and violin sound.
