Boys and girls, the Frisco Bubble Gum races are back.

Beginning today, the ski and ride hill at the Frisco Adventure Park will be hosting six Mondays of racing as part of the Bubble Gum Race Series. From never-ever skiers to seasoned racers, all levels are encouraged to compete in this free race series, according to a release from the town. The series features three types of racing: a dual slalom course, an alpine obstacle course and a Nordic obstacle course, just to shake things up.

This fun, non-competitive, community ski and snowboard race series provides an opportunity for kids and adults to try out racing in a laid-back environment, the release continued. Skiers and boards have the chance to race the course multiple times and races are not timed. Instead, participants are given pieces of bubble gum, which they keep or give away based on their race finishes. The racer who has the most bubble gum at the end of afternoon wins.

All ages and abilities are welcome to participate in the Bubble Gum Series races, and friendly competition between parents, siblings and friends is encouraged.

“We are so happy to team up with Team Summit again this year to bring laid-back and community-oriented free races to the Frisco Adventure Park ski and ride hill,” said Katie Barton, general manager at the Frisco Adventure Park. “I think this is the ideal setting to participate in your first race, or just get out with your friends and family in a supportive racing environment. The stakes are low — a piece of gum — and the fun factor is high.”

The races on Feb. 20, March 6 and March 27 feature a dual slalom course. The races on Feb. 27 and March 20 are held on an alpine obstacle course, and on March 13, the series shakes things up with a Nordic obstacle course.

All races in the series are free. Registration is available on race day only from 4-5 p.m. inside the Frisco Adventure Park Day Lodge (621 Recreation Way in Frisco). Races run from approximately 5-6 p.m. Racers must provide their own ski or snowboard equipment and helmets are required. Free hot cocoa and cookies are served at the day lodge after each race.
