This week in history as reported by the Summit County Journal 100 years ago, the week of June 27 through July 1, 1916.

For the first time in a number of years, the Colorado & Southern railroad, beginning tomorrow, will run a Sunday train between Denver and Leadville. The new schedule as announced by Martin Waltz, a local agent, will prove a boon to Breckenridge and the traveling public, especially that portion which is interested in a business way in Summit county.

There will be no changes in the time schedules of the trains, No. 71 will leave Leadville each morning including Sunday at 8:40 and arrive here at 11:22. No. 70 will leave Denver at 8:15 a.m., and arrive here at 3:22 p.m. The Sunday train will be continued until September 10.

Plans to develop several properties

G.L. Jaynes and G.E. Lamb of Idaho Springs district have obtained a lease and bond on the Muddy mine in Galena gulch, the Jackson property near Boreas pass and are negotiating for several other properties, expecting to have at least three enterprises under way before the end of summer.

They state that two electric power plants will be installed, one at the Muddy mine and one at Boreas pass. On both properties, large forces of miners will be put to work and extensive underground development will be done. Good lead values have been determined in the Jackson property and very encouraging values have been encountered at the Muddy, where mineral conditions lead the operators to contemplate a milling plant as well as other equipment.

Thomas Allen granted divorce in county court

In an action brought by Thomas M. Allen against Rosa Maud Allen, County Judge Fall on Tuesday granted the former a divorce. Under the new state law, the decree will not be granted until the expiration of six months.

Allen alleges that his wife treated him with undue cruelty, and submitted such evidence as to convince the court that his allegations were well founded. Attorneys James T. Hagan and Carl Knisley appeared for the plaintiff and John J. White of Georgetown represented the defendant who was granted the custody of the four children.

New equipment at mill

A flotation plant has been installed at the Old Union mill. The new equipment makes the mill one of the most up-to-date and complete in the county.
