Q&A with Best Accounting Firm finalist New Leaf Tax
Why do you think your business was voted the Best of Summit?
Taxing authorities cut corners all the time, treating good Americans like criminals and giving them the runaround. Our down-to-earth approach has resonated with folks here in Summit because we fully take care of their IRS issues and give overwhelmed taxpayers back their time and peace of mind.
What sets your business apart?
New Leaf Tax is the only tax firm in Summit that specializes in helping people with a tax debt get out of dodge. Over 3,400 Americans have trusted me to represent their interests before the IRS. And as their power of attorney, I’ve negotiated millions of dollars in tax debt down to nominal amounts. If anyone reading this is struggling with tax debt, please reach out today. You won’t regret it.
Why did you choose this profession and what are you most proud of?
I remember when I knew that I would do this work forever. I was representing a good man who was hard up, living out of his truck, fighting for visitation to see his daughter and taking showers in the emergency eye wash station at his work. He had nothing, but he brimmed with life. When he called in tears to thank me for clearing his tax debt, I shed some, too, and I never looked back.
What motivates you in your work?
I deal with real humans going through some of their toughest times and give them their freedom back. It sounds dramatic, but imagine going to fill up your tank or buy groceries only to find that the IRS has issued a bank levy or wage garnishment, taking your last dime. Within hours, I can have the money back in your account, so you can get back to living your life. That’s special, and I love it.
What does customer service mean to you?
It’s simple, really: We say what we do and do what we say. Clients know we’ve got their backs, so they can get back to living their lives. Whether they need help clearing a debt through an “offer in compromise,” getting rid of penalties or dealing with a revenue officer, they know they can count on us to get the job done.
