On The Hill: Searching for powder stashes in Lake Chutes (video)

On The Hill is brought to you by The Steadman Clinic and the Steadman Philippon Research Institute.

VIDEO: Z Griff treks from the top of Peak 6 to Lake Chutes, where he hopes to find a few pockets of untouched snow. The Lake Chutes lap is in-bounds these days, but Z Griff remembers not long ago when it required a 45-minute hike from the T-Bar. The expansion to Peak 6 placed former backcountry within easy walking distance for anyone. Just remember: The terrain is still expert, even when maintained.

Breckenridge official report: 0″, 0″, 0″

Summit Daily field report: It is a cold morning in the Kingdom but temps will rise with the sun. The snow is in great shape especially morning groomers.

Weather: High 25 degrees F,lLow 10 degrees F.

Lift Lines: There were hardly any lines at all yesterday and the lines should be just fine today. There is a second wave of college kids and also foreign visitors. I heard some UK accents.

Breakdown: We are well into January and the New Year. There is a chance of snow on Thursday. We are enjoying excellent conditions but we could use a reset. January can be like this with stretches of cold and no new snow. It forces one to go farther for the goods. Z Griff heads to the top and out to the edge of Lake Chutes for a couple cold, crispy, clean turns.
