2 killed in wrong-way crash on Interstate 70 in Garfield Co.

DENVER Two people are dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 70 in Garfield County.The Colorado State Patrol says the male driver of a Toyota MR2 was eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-70 west of Parachute about 1:15 a.m. Thursday, when the car slammed head-on into a Honda sedan.Both vehicles spun counter clockwise before coming to rest on the roadway.Trooper Gilbert Mares says both drivers were adult males. The Garfield County coroner pronounced both men dead at the scene.Their names have not been released.Mares says it’s unknown whether alcohol, drugs or excessive speed contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
