2 more arrested in soldier’s shooting death
COLORADO SPRINGS Police have arrested two more men following the shooting death of Army Spc. Kevin R. Shields.Former Fort Carson soldier Kenneth Eastridge, 24, was arrested early Friday in Arkansas on suspicion of first-degree murder, police spokesman Lt. Skip Arms said.Bruce Alan Bastien Jr., 21, a soldier based at Fort Carson, turned himself in Friday and was arrested on suspicion of accessory to first-degree murder, Arms said.On Thursday, police arrested Louis Edward Bressler, 24, on suspicion of first-degree murder. Bressler had served with Shields in Iraq but was discharged last month.His wife, Tira Bressler, told The Gazette that Shields, her husband and Bastien had gone out drinking the night of Nov. 30 to celebrate Shields’ 24th birthday.”My husband came home early,” she told the newspaper. “My husband didn’t do anything.”Shields’ body was found early Dec. 1 on a sidewalk.Shields, a native of Roscoe, Ill., had gone on two tours to Iraq but returned early, in May, from his second tour because of medical reasons. He was part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 2nd Infantry Division.Bressler’s wife said her husband also returned early from Iraq and suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.
