A-Basin set to open more terrain

Daily News staff report
Special to the Daily/Casey Day-A-BasinJustin Bley was testing the powder on A-Basin's Slalom Slope on a bluebird day Thursday.

Arapahoe Basin will turn on the Pallavicini chairlift Saturday, Jan. 9. The lift will serve newly open terrain to the east of the lift, including West Wall, Upper Slalom Slope and Grizzly Road.

Alan Henceroth, Arapahoe Basin general manager, tested the new terrain Thursday.

“The skiing on Slalom Slope is fantastic,” Henceroth said. “It’s powder skiing. Everyone needs to get out there!”

Snowcats and ski patrol have been working to get Montezuma Bowl ready for the public, as well.

“A few more storms, and that area should be ready to open in the near future,” said spokeswoman Leigh Hierholzer.
