A college for the whole community

SUMMIT COUNTY – Colorado Mountain College is active in working with students from ages 16 through 96, and in providing courses to meet the needs of the diverse population of Summit County.

The local campus has always provided an array of courses to meet the needs of our working adult population, as well as our senior citizens. Additionally, over the past few years we have designed programs to meet the needs of our high school students, and for the past 10 years developed a number of degree programs appealing to “traditional-age” students.

We are very proud of the high participation rate of Summit County residents, and no doubt this is related to our efforts to meet the needs of diverse residents. Although the college has always worked closely with the school system, in recent years we have had great breakthroughs in serving students under the age of 16. By working with high school counselors and administrators, we have developed the Supergrad program, which allows high school juniors and seniors to receive both college and high school credit simultaneously.

In addition, the school system has been quite active in supporting students in taking “Post-Secondary Enrollment Options” courses, which allow students in the school system to pursue college courses not offered at the high school. Thus, our local “pre-graduates” have quite an array of courses to choose from if they wish. Most of the students at the Summit Campus are working adults taking one or two courses per term, and one of every six residents of Summit County takes at least one class per year at CMC.

The Colorado Mountain College-Summit Campus strives to provide services to all of the many diverse residents of our community, and we are gratified by the participation of so many locals.
