A dissenting thought on opinions about Pledge decision

In response to Richard Ostling’s Religion article printed in the Sept. 7 Summit Daily News, I would like point out that there are some Americans who do not consider the Ninth Circuit Court Ruling regarding the phrase “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance to be “heinous.”

Further, regarding his assertion that this type of judicial activism is a new and recent trend, I would remind him that in the late 1960s, the United States Supreme Court issued a number of rulings regarding the forced racial integration of public schools that were also not too popular in “the court of public opinion.”

But instead of answering rhetoric with more rhetoric, go to the test of the decision and make your own decision.
