A letter to Ms. Texera, who directs the SHS orchestra

There is no match for the intellect, the emotion and the eloquence that simply emanates from your students in their music. I wonder how many of your students realize how incredibly fortunate they are to have you as their director. You obviously have a real ability for bringing the very best of their talent from of each of them. While we may have glossed over the “Superior” rankings you all have been awarded this year at statewide competitions, it’s impossible to overlook the excellence and professionalism in the performances I attended this year. The amazing diversity of material played in the program highlights your students’ willingness to learn and their passion for music. We very much look forward to next year’s programs and suggest promoting your concerts to the many members of the public who enjoy professional-quality symphonic and orchestral music found at the BMI and NRO in the summer. Best of luck to you and your band on your European trip next month. I’m sure it will be as enjoyable for your audiences there as it will be for your students. Keep up the great work!!
