A Local’s Favorite

Arapahoe Basin might be advertised as the legend, but in Summit County, it’s the locals’ mountain. The smallest ski area of the county’s four and the only one that doesn’t have a snowmaking system, A-Basin is fiercely loved – not only for its steep terrain and long season, but for its old-fashioned, no-nonsense style. Spring is high season at Arapahoe Basin. With a season that has in the past run as late as the Fourth of July, the resort’s base area becomes a picnic area each spring – complete with barbecue grills, hamburgers and beer – as A-Basin skiers partake in “Beachin’ at the Basin.”
