BRECKENRIDGE – Looking for that perfect gift for the man in your life who can wield a spatula and knows his way around a spice rack?Author Candis Kloverstrom is serving up the men of Colorado and their culinary talents in her latest book “Denver Men in the Kitchen.”She’ll be in Breckenridge on Saturday with some of the dishes featured in the book.”A Taste of Castlerock” was Kloverstrom’s first cookbook, which included a great deal of historical information about the town as well as local recipes.”I decided I was going to go into a larger metropolitan area for the second book,” Kloverstrom said. “I was toying around with the idea of men, food and fun, and it just came together.”Fifty-seven Colorado men are included in the cookbook. Each of the food savvy fellows are illustrated through biographical information as well as a recipe of their choosing.Some of the featured cooks include Scott Bemis, president of the Denver Business Journal; Mayor John Hickenlooper; Marcelo Balboa, the iron man of soccer; Steve Knight, world-renowned racecar driver; and Mick Rosacci, the weekend chef for channel 7.”Candis Kloverstrom is to be commended for taking a simple concept like men who cook and raising it to an art form. Her book is beautiful, the recipes are top-notch and the guys are an inspiration to us all,” said Bill Stuart, anchorman for KCNC-News 4.Kloverstrom will be at the Cookin’ Cowgirl in Breckenridge from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday with select recipes from the book, hors d’ouevres and refreshments.
