Aaron Raufman: Diversify in Breckenridge

Aaron Raufman

It would seem Vail Resorts’ stronghold on Summit has a sure grip, with overwhelming support from out-of-town HOA “residents” and the corporations’ economic foundation. Breck’s ambition to expand to Peak 6 will prove little impact on the guest experience, and if it’s numbers they’re looking for, then why does the resort oppose construction of a new hotel that will surly lead to an expanding diversity of patrons? Sure, the new crowd may not be able to afford all the products Breck has to offer, but they will be able to stay in a hotel for three nights at rates way lower than any condo, increasing the overall attendance potential and lift ticket sales.

I say let some new fish in Breck; build a hotel and diversify the income. This will inevitably lead to new business opportunities and unseen growth in the economy.
