Abrams: Keep the facts straight

Chuck Abrams, Silverthorne

In response to Rich Forrest article that the Republicans don’t care about children’s health care. First I question the statistic of ranking 49th? Where did this statistic come from? And who ranked above the U.S., those countries who basically have a “zero birth rate!” and secondly I point to “SCHIP” which has been in existence sine 1997, and defined below as available to those families with modest incomes, but to high to qualify for Medicaid.

The State Children’s Health Insurance Program is a program administered by the United States Department of Health and Human Services that provides matching funds to states for health insurance to families with children. The program was designed to cover uninsured children in families with incomes that are modest but too high to qualify for Medicaid.

Republicans have long supported this program. Let’s keep the facts straight!
