Travel Slide Show Series presents ‘Castles, Abbeys and Whiskey of Scotland’

On Friday, Jan. 22, the Friends of the Library’s 2016 Travel Slide Show Series presents “Castles, Abbeys and Whiskey of Scotland” with photographs by Jim Whiteley. This is the first slide show presentation in the 2016 series.

Join the Friends of the Library for an evening exploring Scotland’s history as seen through the eyes of their castles, abbeys, distilleries and World Heritage Sites. The journey will start in Edinburgh, wind north through the Scottish Highlands to the Orkney Isles and then down the west coast of Scotland through the Inner Hebrides before ending in Glasgow.

In the fall of 2015, Whiteley said he wanted, “The opportunity to see how the locals live and enjoy their food.” Using a new Lumix and a 20-1200 zoom, “My shoots were about the locals and the scenic value.”

View his photos at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 in the Blue River Room of the North Branch Library, 651 Center Circle in Silverthorne. This free program is presented by the Summit County Library’s Friends of the Library.

The Friends of the Library present these slide show presentations as part of their fundraising efforts to help the libraries purchase books and other supplies. Follow the library on Facebook and Twitter or check the website at summitcountylibraries.org for more information.
