After 30 years in the biz, Mancini releases first CD
December 7, 2005
BRECKENRIDGE – It was The Beatles that got Sal Mancini into “the whole music thing” and it was jazz, blues and rock that kept him going.Mancini is 49 years old and has recently released his first CD, after more than 25 years of playing music professionally. “My Everything” includes 14 original compositions written during the past 30 years.
He says it’s a compilation of the best he has written, and on Friday he will get the chance to show it off. Starting at 7 p.m., Mancini will be performing at the Muggins Gulch Inn, located at 4023 Tiger Road in Breckenridge. “I will play some songs from the CD and then a mix of cover songs,” Mancini said. “I will probably do some country, jazz and classic rock.”He started playing the guitar at the age of 9 and has never stopped. He does pretty much anything and says that is what he enjoys about music.
“I kind of do it all, so I can never get bored,” he said. Mancini is originally from the Chicago area but moved to Summit County seven years ago with his wife Sharon and his daughter Jessica, who is now 9 years old. Even if they are not skiers or snowboarders, they love the mountains, the air and the laid-back lifestyle. Apart from performing at different Summit County venues, he is the Orchestra Director at Summit Middle School.
“I love teaching,” he said. “I want kids to take music with them, even if they are not going to make a career out of it.”He says seeing kids get inspired by music is what he enjoys the most. Tickets for today’s show are sold in advance for $15 by calling the Muggins Gulch Inn at (970) 453-7414.
