Air tankers go after 2 SW Colo. wildfires

DURANGO – Air tankers were enlisted Thursday to fight two wildfires in southwest Colorado.

The U.S. Forest Service says that two heavy air tankers from Albuquerque, N.M., dropped retardant o the Vallecito Fire. That blaze has not forced any evacuations, though 35 to 40 homes in Montezuma County have gotten pre-evacuation orders.

Also, two single-engine air tankers ordered from Fort Collins started work Thursday battling the Little East Fire.
