Alastair Stone: Another great season for Optimists basketball

Past president, Summit Lake-Dillon Optimist Club
Summit Cove

What a wonderful photo of the Dillon Valley Elementary girls fifth grade Optimist Basketball team in the Daily on Valentine’s Day!

Three of the team competed very well in the Optimist Tri-Star basketball skills competition which was held successfully at Frisco Elementary last Friday. Thank you to principal Renea Hill and the school district for your support to this and all our programs.

Our president, Judge Ed Casias, was there to “judge” the shooting; our treasurer, Bill Wallace, handled the passing; and I used a stop watch to time the dribbling. Our secretary, Marie Orlin, was on hand to recruit new members, and several parents helped on the results desk.

As was stated, a big thank-you to Karen Perkins for her coordination of the program.

One reason to write this is to tell the SDN readers that this year there were 37 teams from the county, and a total of over 350 boys and girls who participated!

Thank you, everyone for another great season.
