Alma’s Walter Loder dies at 81

Walter Loder , 81 of Alma, Colorado formerly of West Chicago, Illinois passed away peacefully on June 4. He was born and raised in Bremen, Germany.

He married Inge Schloesser (of Braunschweig, Germany) on May 14, 1964 in Bremen, Germany. She preceded him in death May 5, 2002. He is survived by a son Jens M. Loder (Blair) of Moundsview, Minnesota and daughter, Sonja L. Chalmers (Jason) of Lake Forest, Illinois and four grandchildren, Anja and Niklaus Loder, Anabelle and James Chalmers.

After immigrating from Germany and working in a lumberyard, he purchased his first hardware store in the 1970s and had subsequent hardware stores before his retirement in 1999. Alma was his beloved home for the past 11 years. He enjoyed skiing, hiking with friends, and dancing at all the local Oktoberfests.

Walter will be missed but never forgotten for his zest for life and the outdoors.

A memorial open house will be held for Walter at his home (496 Quartzville Road, Placer Valley, Alma), Sunday, July 25 from 1- 4 p.m.
