Amy Sokolowski: Bitter about Breckenridge parking ticket

Amy Sokolowski

I am writing to express my concern about a parking ticket I received in Breckenridge May 1 when I was parked in your new handicapped spot across from Clint’s. It concerns me the town would create a handicap spot without any permanent markings or standard signage that abuts the curb. Most if not all parking signs on Main Street are visible at curb side when parking one’s car, however this new spot is not marked well at all. Not only was this a parking violation, it was an exorbitant $100 fine that is bound to leave any shopper on Main Street fuming and bent on not shopping in town again.

This is poor work by a town government whose constituents rely so heavily on tourism. Handicapped parking is great to have on Main Street, but please clearly mark the spot for users and violators alike.
