Annual wine tasting Friday

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

SILVERTHORNE – The second annual wine tasting and auction fundraiser for the House with the Red Door is Friday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Silverthorne Pavilion. The Door is a safe place for young adults in Summit County and a resource and catalyst for positive change. It is an alternative to the bar scene.

Twelve wine distributors are expected to attend, each pouring five affordable wines, likely two whites and three reds – providing a total selection of 60 wines for tasting. Participants will have an opportunity to purchase cases of any of these wines at a discount from retail prices. Wines can also be purchased in three-bottle, six-bottle and case lots.In addition, a live auction of higher end wines will be held during the tasting. This will include somewhere between eight and 12 higher end cases, magnums, or bottles of specialty wines, champagnes, etc.Hors d’oeuvres will be provided throughout the evening, contributed by local restaurants.A silent auction will be held, consisting of specialty wines, liquors and wine-related items such as books, openers, etc. There will also be a number of local restaurant vouchers. New this year on the auction block is a Napa Valley wine trip. The silent auction is expected to close at 8 p.m. when the live auction begins.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at the House with the Red Door, the Silverthorne Recreation Center or by calling (970) 453-7776.2007 House with the Red Door wine tasting, auction
