Arrest warrant issued in dragged dog death

Aidan Leonard

SUMMIT COUNTY – On July 25, a 1-year-old old Rottweiler was dragged to its death, tied to a car travelling from Green Mountain Reservoir.

In response to the incident, the Summit County Sheriff’s office has issued an arrest warrant for Randy Dean Randalls, of Iowa, charging him with cruelty to animals, a Class I misdemeanor. The charge carries possible penalties of six to 18 months in prison and a fine of $500 to $5,000. Bond has been set at $2,000.

“At this point, we’ve done all we can do in terms of investigation,” Animal Control Officer Lesley Craig said.

Craig said that law enforcement officials have been in contact with Randalls since not long after the accident and that, at that time, he was in Iowa. She said she did not know his current location.
