Art fairs are best just as they are as Breckenridge traditions

I just read the Jan. 26 article on the Breckenridge Art Fairs, and as a artist who has exhibited there for more than seven years, I beg you to keep the shows just as they are.The July show is 22 years old and the Labor Day show will enjoy its 30th year. Like many events in town, they are a tradition.I’ve acquired many repeat customers who come to Breckenridge because of the shows. Some drive up for the day, shop the show and stores and eat in the local restaurants.Others book their time shares on those weekends because they love the show so much. Last year two of the three Breckenridge shows were my best shows all year! Mark Beling is a terrific promoter. He has changed these shows from a cheesy arts and crafts venue into some of the best-rated, fine art shows in the country. I would also like to mention that as an artist, the Breckenridge fairs are a working vacation for me. I bring my family, we stay in an expensive condo, and we eat in nice restaurants. I also sell my work in one of the galleries in town.I truly feel that if you change the dates or locations of the shows you will hurt the merchants, the artists and the customers.
