Artists needed to show in Fairplay

Fairplay’s newest venture in arts, Coyote Creek Studio Arts Foundation, is looking for Colorado artists in all mediums to participate in a Colorado artist co-op. The co-op will be located at 419 on historic Front Street, a few doors from South Park City Museum with over 2,500 square feet of display space to fill. The board for Coyote Creek hopes to have the gallery ready for a “sneak preview” on Mother’s Day weekend and a grand opening Memorial Day weekend.

Currently the foundation has been holding a variety of art classes in the basement studio of this building, specializing in silver smithing with Lexi Erickson of Lexi Erickson Designs and a former resident of the South Park area. Erickson comes from Denver each Tuesday to teach from 3-9 p.m. and students can come any time working at their own pace.

Along with silver art jewelry classes, the foundation offers watercoloring painting each third Sunday of the month and specialty classes for beading, gourd art, stone wirewrapping, and more as teachers step forward to offer classes in their medium. Schedules for the classes and information on the co-op are available on line at or by calling (719) 836-2698.
