Aspen too expensive for Realtors

ASPEN ” High real estate prices in this resort town have driven another business out of town: The Aspen Board of Realtors.

“We thought we’d be real estate owners ourselves,” said Brynne Kristan, executive vice president of the board.

With even a small house costing $1 million, the board had been forced to rent an office at the Aspen airport.

Kristan said the board was able to buy a spacious office in Basalt, 10 miles from Aspen.

Scores of businesses have moved out of town in the past decade because of the high cost of real estate and commercial space.
