Asset Builder of the Month

Nominated by Joe Johnson

I would like to nominate Alex Evans as the Asset Builder of the Month for June. Alex is a student at Summit High School and a resident of Frisco. Since October 2002, Alex has been tutoring students four days per week at Frisco Elementary School. Alex is dependable, helpful and knowledgeable. He has been extremely reliable and never misses a day. He arrives at 4 p.m. and stays until between 5 and 5:30 p.m. He works directly with a group of students who have fallen behind and need extra support in completing their homework.

Alex has been a tremendous asset in the lives of those he works with, building self-esteem and helping students have a more positive attitude about school. His students now come to school in the morning feeling good about themselves and their work. Alex works with up to six students in grades two through five, all at once. He helps them with a variety of subjects, and they love him and look forward to getting their homework done with his help.

Anonymous students had this to say about Alex:

“Alex is cool.”

“He has helped a lot with my math.”

“He talks to us about music when we are finished with our work.”

“I feel better about school because I get caught up before I go home at night.”

Alex builds several assets in our youth, including a caring school climate, community values youth, creative activities for youth, service to others, and neighborhood involvement. Alex Evans is truly an asset builder in the lives of students at Frisco Elementary School.
