Attempted armed robbery prompts Breckenridge Police Department investigation

The Breckenridge Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery that occurred at the town's 7-Eleven on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The Breckenridge Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery that took place around 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17 at the 7-Eleven located at 10998 Colorado Highway 9.

The suspect entered brandishing a firearm believed to be a shotgun, according to a social media post by the police department. The employee on duty at the time fled the area and locked himself in the rear office. The suspect attempted to gain entry to the office but was not successful. He then left the store on foot without any stolen cash or items, Breckenridge Police Department stated in the post.

The suspect is a 5-foot-4-inch man with a medium build, last seen wearing a tan jacket, black beanie, a dark-colored bandana covering his nose and mouth, dark blue pants and black boots.



This investigation is ongoing.
