Breckenridge Backstage Theatre is putting out a casting call for its upcoming production “Billy Elliot.” Auditions will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Breckenridge Theater, 121 S. Ridge Street, in Breckenridge.

The auditions will feature hour-long slots with potential actors and actresses preparing 16 bars of up-tempo music from any source with the theater providing a pianist.

Hopefuls should bring sheet music and be prepared to read from the script with an English-Geordie accent. Dancing will also be required, so people should wear comfortable clothing and shoes.

Roles for actors and actresses age 18 and up include that of Tony, Grandma, Billy’s Mum, Big Davey, George, Miners and ensemble women. Roles for children include Debbie Wilkinson (about 14 years old), and ballerinas (ages 8 and up).

Rehearsals begin in June, with the dates and times flexible. Tech week is Aug. 20-24 and performances will be Aug. 25-27 and Sept. 1-3 at the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge.
