FRISCO – Don’t call him “One Book Bob” anymore. Former Frisco mayor, soldier and author Bob Moscatelli’s second book, “The Quote Manual: Wisdom and Wit of the Ages,” is a 50-year collection of inspirational and thought-provoking quotes.Moscatelli, who once opened Bob’s One Book Bookstore in Frisco to sell his first publication, said he would consider reopening the shop – this time as Two Book Bob’s One Book Bookstore – if the little cabin on Fifth and Main came available again. The motivation for Moscatelli’s work began with a father’s intention to pass along what he has learned to his children.”After I got out of politics in Frisco and had some time – I’m just over 69 years old – I decided to put my life in order,” he said.

The first thing he said he did was get his will ready, and the second was to prepare the quotations he had been collecting over his life that he thought were clever and worth remembering.Moscatelli’s collection of outstanding quotes began at his West Point graduation where he heard Billy Graham speak and wrote down two things that Graham said – and he hasn’t stopped since.”I’ve been collecting for 50 years (quotes) that struck my fancy and I believe will strike other people’s fancy in a thought-provoking and humorous way,” he said. One of his favorite quotes of the collection, attributed to Eno Putain, is “Beware of inspirations that take wing on the vapors of your second martini.”

Another of his favorites, “Never get into a fight with a pig. You both get dirty and he enjoys it,” attributed to Creighton Abrams, General, Chief of Staff, U.S. Army, has helped Moscatelli in his political life. Moscatelli said after his resignation from post of mayor in Frisco, several people wrote negative letters to the editor about him, and he referenced this saying in his decision not to write back. What started as a spiral-bound Kinkos anthology he made himself – two copies for his kids and nine more to bring to friends as gifts – is now available in paperback form in stores. Moscatelli will be signing copies of his book at Winds of Change Books & Gifts in Frisco from 2-5:30 p.m. Saturday.Leslie Brefeld can be reached at (970) 669-3998, ext. 13622, or lbrefeld@summitdaily.com.
