Authorities ID snowmobiler killed in crash

GRAND LAKE ” Authorities say a Connecticut snowmobiler was wearing a helmet when he crashed into a tree near Grand Lake, but the impact was enough to kill him on impact.

Grand County Sheriff Rodney Johnson says 40-year-old William S. Bradford of Riverside, Conn., died Sunday of blunt force trauma after losing control of his snowmobile on a groomed trail in the Arapaho National Forest.

Authorities say Bradford was alone on his snowmobile but was traveling with family and friends at the time of the accident.

Bradford apparently lost control at an intersection on the trail and hit the tree. Officials say the impact threw Bradford’s helmet and killed him immediately.
