Avy training provided Tuesday in Breck

BRECKENRIDGE – The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) and Beaver Run Resort are offering an avalanche awareness seminar and slide show on the avalanche potential in and around Summit County.Basic avalanche awareness training will be provided including avalanche terrain recognition, smart route finding techniques and avalanche survival tips. The information is especially important for backcountry skiers, boarders, hikers, snowshoers and climbers. The free program will be on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the Beaver Run Conference Center and will feature Nick Logan from the CAIC.”(Avalanche education) is important here, because Summit County historically has led the nation in avalanche fatalities,” Logan said. “The terrain and weather patterns here typically form weak snow areas.”
