Backcountry Ball coming up Oct. 18

Daily News staff report

Summit Huts Association presents its second annual Backcountry Ball 6:30-9:30 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Maggie Restaurant at the base of Breckenridge’s Peak 9.

The theme is, “An evening benefiting kids in the backcountry.”

Each year, Summit Huts hosts a benefit to raise scholarship funds for educational programs at the huts.

Groups such as the Summit Schools, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and others receive a reduction in hut fees and scholarship funds through funds raised by the ball.

The evening includes music, good food, great silent auction items, exhibits of new winter sports equipment and great company. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for school-aged kids.

Tickets include entrance into the event, dinner and one drink ticket. Volunteers are needed for the event. For information, call Summit Huts at (970) 453-8583.
