Backcountry Ball to raise money for education

Summit Huts Association will put on their fourth annual Backcountry Ball on Saturday, Oct. 15, from 6:30-11 p.m. at The Maggie Restaurant, base of Peak 9, Breckenridge. This year’s event, presented by Breckenridge Ski Resort, will feature a Scandinavian theme, with a regional dinner, drinks, vendor booths, silent and live auctions, door prizes, a raffle drawing, live music with Slipstream and dancing into the evening. The attire will be Scandinavian. Proceeds from this fun evening benefit Summit Huts’ Youth Educational Scholarship Fund, through which the organization is able to offer reduced-cost hut nights to educational groups utilizing the huts. Tickets may be purchased in advance by contacting the office and will also be available at the door. Cost will be $20 for adults and $10 for school-aged kids. For more information, directions, to sign up to volunteer or to purchase tickets, contact Summit Huts at (970) 453-8583, e-mail or visit
