Backstage awards scholarships

BRECKENRIDGE – The Backstage Theatre awarded nine Summit County residents a total of $3,000 in financial assistance for extra study in the visual and performing arts with the Backstage at the Riverwalk Arts Study Scholarship.

The recipients are: Kimberly Bouchard, Nicolette Bouchard, Alan Harrington, Morgen Harrington, Ashley Holmberg, Kelsie Holmberg, Matthew Truesdell, Spencer Truesdell and Kate Wrobel.

Jeremy Cole, artistic director for the Backstage Theatre, Deb Edwards, executive director of The Summit Foundation, and Summit Middle School teacher Craig Sodaro make up the scholarship committee. This year, they reviewed 13 applications.

The Backstage’s summer musicals generated the grant money. While the Backstage won’t perform the Riverwalk show this summer, it remains committed to the scholarship program.
