Backstage offers workshops and auditions

DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORTS

Master your fear of Shakespeare with a comprehensive workshop on Shakespeare in performance from 12:30-5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Breckenridge Theatre. Using a variety of script samples from Shakespeare’s plays, the workshop explores how the matter and rhythm of the text give clues to playing a scene. Through a hands-on approach, workshop participants will discover that Shakespeare (himself an actor) provides the player with direction for character choices, blocking-and more-using language, word order and meter. Melinda J. Scott, the education director for the Colorado Shakespeare Festival since 2001 and actor for more than 35 years, facilitates the workshop.Audition for “Fuddy Meers”The Backstage Theatre will hold auditions for “Fuddy Meers,” a sick and twisted comedy by David Lindsay-Abaire, at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7.Roles are available for a teenage boy, three men and two women in their 30s or 40s and a woman 50 or older.A perusal script is available at the Breckenridge Public Library.
