Backstage receives nods from Post
BRECKENRIDGE ” The Backstage Theatre in Breckenridge was recently named a finalist for two Denver Post Ovation awards for theatre excellence.
The Backstage Children’s Theatre production of “The Hobbit” was nominated as Best Children’s Production, and actor Christopher Willard was nominated as Best Actor in a Children’s Play for his role as Bilbo Baggins in “The Hobbit.” In addition, Willard also received a nomination as Best Director of a Musical for his interpretation of “My Fair Lady” at Town Hall Arts Center in Littleton.
Also, Willard’s production of “The Syringa Tree” received a nomination for Best Remount for its Colorado Springs TheatreWorks production last February.

Denver Post Ovation Award finalists were culled from 154 Colorado productions.
Winners will be selected by theater critic John Moore and will be announced Dec. 30.
“The Hobbit,” directed by Theatre Person of the Year Ovation nominee Geoff Kent and featuring puppetry by Cory Gilstrap, will be restaged next year at the Town Hall Arts Center and will play April 28 through May 8. Call (303) 794-2787 ext. 217 for tickets.
