Backstage Theatre offers scene study workshop June 3 and 10

BRECKENRIDGE – The Backstage Theatre presents a Scene Study Workshop conducted by Michael Grittner on two consecutive Saturdays in June – the 3rd and 10th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Breckenridge Theatre. In the Scene Study Workshop, participants will determine the story of the scene by finding the given circumstances, dramatic action and identifying the character’s objective within the scene. Then develop interest in the scene through exploring character relationship and interaction – what is the conflict and how is it resolved? And who wins (this time)? Attendants will also work scenes for sincerity through active listening and responding. Techniques from Stanislavski, Hagen, and Mesiner will be utilized for text exploration, improvisation and working scenes. Workshops are open for the novice beginner to the seasoned professional. The two-day workshop will be conducted by Michael Grittner, most recently seen as Mellersh Wilton in “Enchanted April” at the Backstage Theatre. He holds a masters degree in theater and has taught acting and other courses as well as serving four years as artistic director for the Paul Bunyan Playhouse in Minnesota.Cost for the workshop is $50. Students must be able to attend both sessions. Payment by check or cash is due on first day of the workshop. Class size is limited to 10. Early registration recommended. Call the Backstage Theatre at (970) 453-0199 to register.
