The September 17 and 18 issues of the Summit Daily News tell stories worth thinking about. The pictures are of 3-year-old Noah Preaus and his kite, and 94-year-old Edna Dercum on her skis.

Look at these faces; those beautiful, glorious faces. Noah’s face of joy and anticipation, Edna’s face of happiness and satisfaction of having been there and done that and reveling in what fun it was. Our future and past shown to us in two days on the front pages of the Summit Daily News. Edna Dercum’s spirit will never die. Noah Preaus’s life will be, I pray like hers productive and joyful. God bless Noah, and rest in peace, Edna.

Editor’s note: The photo of Edna Dercum was taken in 1990, when she would have been 76.
