Barrett Edwards: A DUI reminder

Barrett Edwards

Four years ago this August 5th, my family lost a shining light. Her name was Jennifer Leigh Zartman; she was 21, an honors student at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and on her way to a career in medicine. Her academic, extracurricular and social honors are too numerous to mention here. She was one of those people who truly worked to make the world better. Brilliant, caring, dedicated, very funny – and engaged to be married. She was on her way to help someone in need when she was killed by a drunk driver. That driver who chose to drink and drive shattered a family forever. I am asking you who read this to please think twice before you decide to drive after you drink – every day, but most especially this August 5th. In Jenny’s memory. You may well be saving a life.
