Baseball Extravaganza at Silverthorne Pavilion on Saturday

Daily News staff report

SYBS will be hosting a Baseball Extravaganza on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at the Silverthorne Pavilion. This free event is for the whole family. The extravaganza is held to promote Little League baseball and softball in Summit and Park counties. The event will have opportunities for players to register for the season. Parents will also be able to visit several booths to find out more information on coaching, umpires, safety products, softball, All-Stars and many other areas of baseball.

There will be a batting cage and pitching cage set up for parents and kids to test out their skills. Ballpark food will be served. There will be door prizes and raffles. The Colorado Rockies have donated a signed Todd Helton bat for a raffle item. Tad Reida from Cagerats Baseball will be our guest speaker. He will also be mingling around giving out pointers on proper hitting and throwing. SYBS will also have an area set up for an equipment swap. Families are encouraged to bring gently used cleats, gloves, bats, etc. to swap. Families will have opportunities to purchase league sweatshirts and bumper stickers. This event promises to be a fun-filled evening for our local baseball enthusiasts.
