Battle of the Bands is Friday at the Riverwalk

BRECKENRIDGE ” The Breckenridge Music Festival’s annual Battle of the Bands draws local bands and solo acts to the Riverwalk Center to compete head to head. This year’s event is Friday at 7 p.m.

Each year, six to 10 bands (comprised mainly of Summit High School and middle school students) provide entertainment while battling each other for cash prizes and bragging rights.

Music genres range from acoustic rock, heavy metal, punk and funk, to rock ‘n’ roll with each band performing for approximately 10 minutes.

KSMT DJ Stacey will MC the event and the panel of judges will include KCMV DJ Kari Barr, KSMT DJ Johnny and a third judge yet to be determined. Winners will be chosen that evening.

The Battle of the Bands is a drug- and alcohol-free event.

$10 tickets are on sale at the Riverwalk Center Box office. Call (970) 547-3100 to order your tickets. The box office is open Tuesday through Sunday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.
