Be careful with progress

Recently I visited my son K.C.’s beloved Summit County to cast his ashes high in the mountains. K.C., who tragically died in an avalanche at the Rock Garden on March 20, found peace and a lifestyle that so many strive for, but few honestly achieve living in the county.

I read and heard of annexation and development plans, particularly in the Keystone and Montezuma areas.

While progress and change are inevitable and generally good, I urge county residents to hold the peaceful, easy lifestyle of grace, care for one another, and respect for the environment dear.

As K.C. wrote in a poem, “You just gotta love what you got.” Thank you to all the wonderful Summit County angels who have embraced our family and hold K.C.’s memory so dearly.
