Bead artists and lampworkers wanted for Fairplay show

The third annual Fairplay Bead Swap and Show is set for Aug. 14-15 on Front Street in Fairplay.The event is hosted by the South Park Chamber of Commerce and Back Room Beads at South Park Pottery. Booth space is available to any bead artist, bead dealer, gem and mineral vendor and lampworker. Booth spaces start at $35 for a small space and $50 for the standard 10-by-10 booth.There will be demonstrations of lampworking, raku bead firing and classes available for those wanting to learn new or different beading techniques. There is an open torch time where anyone that has watched the demonstrations is welcome to try their hand at making a bead. There also will be a juried competition in the categories of wearable beaded items, decorative beadwork, and lampwork beads. Prize money and ribbons will be awarded to the first three places in each category. The evening of Aug. 14, there will be a wine and cheese happy hour, spaghetti dinner, bead exchange and round robin auction at the Hand Hotel, complimentary to participants in the show and $5 to the public.The goal of this event is to bring a like-minded group together to buy, sell and trade their work, supplies, information, tips, tricks and all things related to the beading hobby and industry.
