Beer tasting at Dillon Dam Brewery Wednesday

The Dillon Dam Brewery is holding a big beer tasting on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m.

“Come taste some rare beers, because it is not often you get to try aged beers. We are showcasing three big, high-alcohol and highly malted beers. Aging gives them a smooth, well-rounded flavor,” said Dillon Dam brewmaster Cory Forster.

He has been aging the beers for over a year. Taste the 2009 Imperial Red Ale aged in a Stranahan’s Whiskey Barrel, the 2009 Olde Forster’s Smoked Scotch Ale and the 2009 Yo Han Bock. This is a one-time event.

“This is something other countries have been doing for years – aging their beers,” Forster explained. “If we had enough time and room, we would be bottling and selling these beers so you could continue to age them at home or enjoy them when you like.”

Cost of the event is $20 in advance or $25 at the door and includes a half-pint of each beer plus a snack buffet. Additional half-pints are $5 each while supplies last. For more info, call (970) 262-7777.
