Benzanson of Silverthorne passes


Ruth Ann Bezanson of Silverthorne died at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver on June 13. She was treated for a respiratory condition that resulted from chemotherapy used to treat ovarian cancer. She was 72. Born in Morristown, N.J., she lived in Mendham, N.J., where she attended schools and later after graduating from Bethany, W.V., College. Ruth returned to Mendham where she taught third grade in the same school that she had been taught earlier. Ruth lived in New Jersey and East Greenbush, N.Y. where she was active in the Dutch Reformed Church, and as a den mother. Ruth was a certified aquatics teacher and enjoyed SCUBA diving. Ruth’s family enjoyed skiing and Ruth became an accomplished skier and continued to ski until the time of her death. She loved gardening and traveling to international destinations. Ruth did volunteer work at the Silverthorne and Frisco/Copper information centers.Ruth is predeceased by her former husband William A. Goss and two sons of that marriage, Mark W. Goss and Gary J. Goss. She is survived by her husband, Raymond C. Bezanson, a daughter, Ruth J. Tummey, a son, Gregory C. Goss. Also surviving are Brothers John and William Cacchio, and sister, Elizabeth Olechna. There are grandchildren survivors: Gabrielle Goss, Gary Goss, Jr. Nicole Farley and Bryce Farley. A family Memorial Service will take place today at Shinn’s Funeral Home, Manahawkin, N.J. The family suggests a donation to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
