BGC men’s team tops Vail rivals in annual competition

The Breckenridge Golf Club’s men’s team scored a decisive victory over its rivals from the Vail Golf Club last week in the annual battle for the “Match.” Utilizing a match play format, 12 players from each team competed on a gross score basis while equal number played on a net basis. In the gross score competition the Breckenridge men won seven matches, lost four and tied one. In the net competition Breckenridge won seven more and lost five. The final score was Breckenridge 14, Vail 9.In other news, the Ladies Club of the Breckenridge Golf Club conducted its annual Tournament of Champions at the Keystone River Course on Tuesday. All women who won an event during the season were invited to compete in an individual gross and net stroke play competition.Winning the gross competition with a 78 was club champion Krista Morgan. Anita Koverman took second and Amy Guras finished third.In the net division, Koverman won with a 60 followed by runner-up Cheryl Love (63) and third-place finisher Phyllis King, who carded a 65.
